7/1/17 – Pre-Departure Seminar! Seeking Volunteers

This year we are having the JET Pre-Departure Seminar at the Four Points near LAX on July 1! The officers have been working hard on this for the last few months, so we want to share with you what has been happening.

Similar to previous years, we will be having three breakout sessions for attendees to choose from, as well as the popular round table discussions later in the afternoon. Speakers from the consulate, JETAASC, Travel Agency, and Harvey Hihara will be speaking during the morning session like in previous years.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help out with the Pre-Departure Seminar. Since our rooms are split this year, we will need volunteers at two key points in the hotel assisting with directing the participants. This is a great event with a lot of energy coming from the new JETs. If you’re interested in helping out, then please fill out and submit this volunteer sheet: https://goo.gl/forms/bat8ZP0qkNrIf0mz2

When: July 1, 2017
Where: 9750 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045
Contact: (626) 367-6118 or president1@jetaasc.org

6/17/17 – San Diego Yukata Pub Crawl

Let’s head on down to North Park, San Diego for some delicious beer on Saturday, June 17th!

We will meet at the ChuckAlek Biergarten to eat lunch and change into our yukata or jimbei while everyone arrives. From there, we will start our crawl toward 30th Street at 2pm sharp! (we can start earlier if everyone is ready) We will spend one hour at each of the following locations and our social coordinator, Greg, will give a 15 minute warning before we leave to the next location. If anyone is late, then they can meet us along the way, and if they need to leave early, they can. If we are able to make the entire 1.5 mile stretch of 30th Street, then our goal will be to eat Nomad Donuts and get one last pint at the Fall Brewing Company at 7:30PM.

Stop 1: ChuckAlek Biergarten until 2:00PM
Stop 2: North Park Beer Company until 3:15PM
Stop 3: Toronado San Diego until 4:30PM
Stop 4: The Belching Beaver North Park until 5:45PM
Stop 5: Tiger! Tiger! until 7:00PM
Stop 6: Nomad Donuts on the way to Fall Brewing

You can use this guide to join us if you can’t be there from the beginning, and feel free to leave early if you need to.

6/15/17 – June Natsukashii Nomikai

Announcing our FOURTH Natsukashii Nomikai!

Come out Thursday, June 15th, to connect with fellow JET Alumni and FOJ (Friends of JET) over pitchers of Japanese beer, stories of “this one nijikai…”, favorite conbini bentos, and possibly even karaoke! Our May Natsukashi Nomikai was another huge success! Once again we had a dozen wonderful people turn out! This month, Jonathan Slakey is taking us to Wolf & Crane, which if I had to describe in one word, I’d choose: 渋い (tasteful)! Happy Hour is 5-7PM, but we will stay well after that!

Reminisce about the good times, reconnect or meet fellow alumni, and maybe discover your new favorite Japanese watering hole in Little Tokyo, all while helping to support these small businesses one drink at a time! Hope to see you there!

When: Thursday, June 15 starting at 5:00PM
Where: Wolf & Crane
366 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, California 90012
