2015 JETAASC Elections – Call for Candidates

Have great ideas for JETAASC? Want to boost your leadership skills and help lead one of the largest JETAA chapters in the US? 

JETAASC is opening up nominations for officer positions for the 2015-2016 term (November 2015 – December 2016). Becoming a JETAASC officer is a great way to stay connected to JET, Japan and JET alumni from all over the U.S. We’re looking for people with big ideas and a positive attitude to help our chapter better serve our fantastic – and growing! -Southern California/Arizona alumni community.
All officer positions are open to interested candidates. Please note that all positions are volunteer roles. 

2015-2016 JETAASC Officer Positions

 Co-Presidents (2) 
Serves as the “face” of the organization; coordinates standing meetings, goals, objectives with the other officers and communicates with the Consulate and JETAASC Board, as well as the JETAA Chapter reps, Country reps and CLAIR. 

Treasurer
Manages and maintains accurate records of chapter finances; determines operating budget; prepares and submits grant applications and annual reports to CLAIR. 

Secretary
Gathers, creates and sends out the monthly newsletter, takes notes at all meetings.

At the conclusion of our officer elections, we will start looking to fill our coordinator openings. Coordinator positions are not elected. If you are interested or would like more information, please email Traci Kawaguchi @ jetaasc.elections@gmail.com.  Coordinator roles include:

Social Chair 
Organizes monthly social events.

Nihongo Dake Dinner (NDD) Chair 
Organizes monthly Nihongo Dake Dinner (Japanese-speaking) events. 

Public Relations Chair
Posts on Facebook and website about past events and promotes upcoming ones. Develops relationships with other Japan-related organizations, identifying opportunities to jointly host events. 

 

2015 JETAASC Elections Timeline

Friday, October 30 – Nominations and candidate platforms due
Monday, November 2 – Ballot emailed to membership at large
Sunday, November 8 – Last day for voting
Monday, November 9 – Results announced
Mid-November (TBD) – Installation for new officers

If you are interested or know someone who would be great in a leadership role, please send your nominations to jetaasc.elections@gmail.comSelf-nominations are accepted and welcome. Those who accept their nomination or who self-nominate will be asked to submit a brief platform. Please note that due to our short timeline, those nominating should be mindful of the October 30 deadline for candidate platform submissions (Let them know!).
