8/25/17 ~ 8/27/17 – JETAASC Goes to the Big Trees

Looking to get out and see nature this summer? Join the JETAASC crew on a trip to Sequoia National Park from August 25-27th! We’ve got campsite reservations right in the heart of the park, one mile from the General Grant grove of Sequoia redwoods (General Grant is the second largest living tree in the world!). Come make a s’more, grill up some hot dogs, and relax in the woods with us. Here’s a schedule of the weekend:

Friday, August 25th @ 6pm – LA cars will caravan to Sequoia. We won’t be getting into the campground until late that night, but the campsites are reserved if you want to head to the Park early! If you’re not joining us from the LA area, leave a comment and let us know where you’ll be driving up from.

Saturday, August 26th – We’ll spend the day exploring the park, walking down some trails to see the big trees, hiking to catch great views of the Eastern Sierra mountain range, and relaxing at the campsite.

Sunday, August 27th – We’ll head for home around lunchtime, but not before stopping to see the largest tree in the world!

Space is limited so RSVP quick if you’d like to join us. If you have any questions, shoot Jonathan an email at president2@jetaasc.org or send him a message on Facebook. Hope you can join us!

8/12/17 – Kayaking/SUP in Newport Bay

Beat the heat – come out to kayak or SUP in Orange County’s Newport Back Bay! We’ll enjoy the bay (either the ecological preserve side or the fancy homes) for a couple of hours before having lunch nearby. Mary, the coordinator, is deciding between two rental places, but it will cost between $15-$20/hr to rent either a single person kayak or a stand up paddle board.

The JTEs in Irvine will be invited as well so please let Mary know if you can help pick them up. More details to come!

7/1/17 – Pre-Departure Seminar! Seeking Volunteers

This year we are having the JET Pre-Departure Seminar at the Four Points near LAX on July 1! The officers have been working hard on this for the last few months, so we want to share with you what has been happening.

Similar to previous years, we will be having three breakout sessions for attendees to choose from, as well as the popular round table discussions later in the afternoon. Speakers from the consulate, JETAASC, Travel Agency, and Harvey Hihara will be speaking during the morning session like in previous years.

We are currently seeking volunteers to help out with the Pre-Departure Seminar. Since our rooms are split this year, we will need volunteers at two key points in the hotel assisting with directing the participants. This is a great event with a lot of energy coming from the new JETs. If you’re interested in helping out, then please fill out and submit this volunteer sheet: https://goo.gl/forms/bat8ZP0qkNrIf0mz2

When: July 1, 2017
Where: 9750 Airport Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045
